DualSun Spring® Hybrid PVT Panels

The best of PV, coupled with the best of Solar Thermal

Dualsun combines a PV module with Solar Thermal technology, ensuring the maximum energy output for the area used.

315W peak electrical power output

The DualSun Spring panel boasts 315W peak electrical output, in line with premium modules from leading solar PV module manufacturers. This high power makes it ideal for applications where space is at a premium, such as rooftops.

600W Thermal Output

As well as 315W of electrical output, the Spring PVT also generates a significant amount of heat energy for use as hot water or in heating.

Compatible with standard PV fittings

Unlike most solar thermal systems, the Spring panel is compatible with standard mounting brackets - meaning the system can also use PV panels as well, allowing for optimal sizing.

Increased electrical output

Because the circulating water cools off the panel, the DualSun Spring panel ouputs up to 10% more electricity than a standard PV panel

We are the UK partner of DualSun, the leading European manufacturer of hybrid Solar PV – Solar Thermal panels.

PVT in the UK is still a far smaller industry than elsewhere in the world, despite these systems having a number of benefits over normal solar systems. Normal PV panels typically convert a maximum of 18% and 22% of the sun’s energy into electricity: the remaining energy is lost as heat. By using an aluminium heat exchanger integrated with the back of the panel, DualSun’s hybrid Spring® PVT panel captures this wasted heat to use as hot water. This raises the total power output of the panel from 315W to just under 1kW – while the circulation of the hot water also cools the panel, increasing the electrical output by up to 10% over a 315W PV panel.

And it achieves all this while being cost-competitive with standard Solar Thermal systems.

The hot water produced can either be used around the house, or can act as a prefeed for your heat pump system or boiler to reduce the cost of heating. This means there are a number of situations where PVT makes sense over traditional PV, or traditional solar thermal. In particular in the UK, we see it applied well for heating swimming pools, or in conjunction with heatpumps. We think that in the UK – where the space for solar system is often at a premium – maximising the energy output for the area used makes an awful lot of sense.

As well as the Spring® panel, the company offer a pure PV panel, the Flash®, which is has same size and electrical characteristics as the Spring® – because the two are compatible, we can optimise the heat and electrical output of the system for your home or business needs.
